KNOWSLEY
Wild animals roam Knowsley Safari Park, and so do visitors, but in the   safety of their cars. Thirty species of mammal inhabit the Park which is one  of the only  two zoo parks in the country.
Nearby is Knowsley Hall, home of the Earls of Derby since the 14th century, which now hosts conferences,         weddings, corporate functions, and team-building exercises.
Last summer it was the setting for the first Knowsley Music Festival  with The Who as one of its headliners.
If visitors prefer a more placid outing the Prescot Museum offers an insight into the days when clock-making made the village a major force in the industry.
Even more restful is a visit to the National Wildflower Centre, one of only  two in  the world, in Court Hey Park.

ST HELENS
Many  will point to the town club’s impressive record in the world of rugby league, others might opt for its place in the glass-making industry.
The World of Glass is a fascinating show of the glass-blower’s skill, but there is more to St Helens with power-boat racing on Carr Dam, a lively jazz and blues scene at the Citadel Arts Centre, and horse racing at Haydock Park.
If you are driven by historic buses and trams then a visit to the North West Museum of Road Transport should be on your route.
